Poster for the campaign to send emergency food aid to Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is going through a severe Ecomonic crisis with the country on the

verge of defaulting on it's debt. The Buddhist Communities in the USA as well as 

Korea Collected Donations as many Sri Lankans including the Members of the monastic 

Sangha are sustaining themselves on barely one meal a day. The USA 

Midwestern Branch of the Special Overseas District 

started the campaign to help Sri Lanka on August 

20, 2022, and continued until September 14 when W 

12,000,000 was raised. Temples in the LA area such as LA 

Tahlmahsa, Koreasah, Banyasa, Hanmaum Seon Center, 

Diamond Zen Center, Urijeol, and Beopwang-sa as  well 

as Buddhist lay groups including Bodhi Buddhist Friends 

and LA Propagation Corps made contributions to the 

fund. The Special Overseas District will forward the 

money to the international aid organization designated 

by the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism.
