Dedication of the All Souls’Day rites atYdunhwasa

On August 14,2022, Younhwa-sa in London, the UK (Abbot: 

Ven. Jis니) officiated the rites of All Souls’ Day or the Festival 

of the Hungry Ghosts. The ceremony was attended by 40 

people, who joined through Zoom due to COVID-19. At 

the end of the 8-day ritual, the feeding of hungry ghosts 

and spirits of deceased family members, Ven. Jisu dedicated 

ullambanci rites with a prayer before he ended the ceremony: 

w Dear grandfathers, grandmothers, fathers, and mothers, you 

spoon-fed us, changed our diapers, washed us and put us to 

bed with your work-roughened hands, and carried us on your 

bent back. When we grew up and left your care, you traveled 

to our new homes far away and burned incense and candles 

to wish us longevity and health. Dear Dharma friends back 

home, you were busy showering us with gifts whenever we 

paid a visit. We pray for your rebirth in the Western Pure Land. 

We also pray for all the ghosts wandering heavens with no 

descendant to offer them prayers, and the souls of those who 

never had a chance to be born out of the wombs of their 

mothers. May you all be reborn in the Western Paradise and 

bless us with happiness’:
